Research Areas

Mathematical, statistical, and computational aspects of evolutionary biology. Much of my work to date has focused on phylogenetics, the reconstructon of evolutionary history. I am currently investigating areas of cross-over between phylogenetics, population genetics and geography. 

Ph.D. Scholarships available!

I'm always looking for Ph.D. students with a good mathematical background who are interested in working on projects related to evolutionary biology or mathematical diversities. The University of Otago has multiple PhD scholarships available and, in addition, international PhD students only pay domestic fees (these would be covered by a scholarship if you got one).
