Post-Doctorate Information
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics is delighted to host postdoctoral appointments in an area related to one of its research strengths. Generally, postdoctoral fellowships are supported on research grants obtained from, e.g., the Marsden Fund or the Foundation for Research, Science and Technology, or they support the individual directly, as is the case with the NZ Science and Technology Postdoctoral Fellowship and stipends obtained abroad.
In the former case fellowships are advertised as an outcome of a successful grant application; in the latter the individually applies on their own behalf after consultation with the Department. Fellowships are usually for 3 years and involve close research collaboration between the incumbent and one or more academic staff in the Department.
